Coach Trip to Southport
I went on a Coach Trip recently to Southport, with Woods Coaches, the Leicester company from whom I hire coaches for my own excursions.
As I have said before, it is always a pleasure for me to go on a trip as a passenger. I can sit back and be taken, without any responsibility for anything!
On this occasion, we left St. Margarets Bus Station and proceeded North West until we arrived at Sandbach Services, where I was able to stoke up with a good breakfast.
At Southport, I walked to the end of Southport Pier. It is nowhere near as long as Southend Pier, of course, and a good deal of it is over the land, but it is still longer than most, and it was an invigorating few minutes to stride out to the end, from where I was able to see Blackpool Tower.
The modern pavilion at the Pier Head has, in addition to cafe and toilets, a museum of slot machines. Very good.
It was also an enjoyable experience to ride on the way back on a tram.
In Southport town centre I explored some of the shops, and found two v very nice tea shops.
On the way back, we made a brief stop at Sandbach Services again.
And yes, I had a nice day.
