Brian Tells of a Grocer of Distinction
There was another meeting of the Community History Network in Leicester recently.
This group, open free to anybody in the Leicester area who has an interest in any aspect of local history, meets every other month at the Reference Library in Bishop Street.
There is always a speaker - I have myself addressed the group on several occasions.
This time, it was my friend Brian Johnson, whose talk was entitled "Joseph Roberts: A Grocer of Distinction". Brian traced the history of this man and his local grocery business which grew into a wholesale empire.
As always, Brian gave an excellent presentation,on a subject which he is considering publishing in book form.
