A Visit to the Yorkshire Dales
I went as a passenger on a Coach Trip with Woods Coaches recently. This is the Leicester company from whom I hire coaches for my own trips.
This time, it was a tour of the Yorkshire Dales.
As usual, I boarded the coach at St. Margarets Bus Station, and after picking up more passengers we headed Northwards up the M1, stopping at Tibshelf Services where I was able to stoke up with a good breakfast.
One of our two main stops was at Pateley Bridge, a pleasant little Yorkshire town with a steep High Street. I had a coffee at the Old Granary tea shop, had a chat with the lady running the Tourist Information Centre, looked in the window of England`s oldest sweet shop (which unfortunately was closed), visited the 19th century St. Cuthbert`s Church and had an excellent pork and apple pie rfom a local butcher.
Then it was on, in the rain unfortunately, to the elegant spa town of Harrogate, resisting the temptation to visit Betty`s Tea Room, which was very busy.
On the way back to Leicester, we stopped again at Tibshelf Services.
And of course as usual I had a very good day.
